ao.ringo / Daily Japanese-Western Breakfast Brand Identity & Integrated Design
The brand name “ao.ringo" is a playful blend of the founders' names, while also drawing inspiration from architect Tadao Ando's philosophy of the "green apple"—a symbol of eternal youth, humility, and continuous learning. Translating their architectural backgrounds, aesthetic sensibilities, and life philosophy into a cozy neighborhood breakfast spot nestled in Liming New Village, the brand centers on the traditional Japanese "one soup, three dishes" set meal. Through a simple bowl of rice and a warm sip of miso soup, it invites guests to slow down and savor the warmth of everyday life.
Centered around the concept of "sceneries of daily life within an old house," the USE design team preserved the original timber structures, shifting light, and traces of time, while seamlessly integrating a modern glasshouse. Through a vocabulary of subtractive design, we allowed natural sunlight to become a co-creator of the space.
Through comprehensive brand integration, the USE design team translated the founders' business philosophy into a tangible spatial atmosphere and visual identity. The scope includes the brand logo, exterior signage, spatial noren curtains, seasonal series coasters, and stationery. We invite every customer stepping into the space to experience the delicate balance of the "extraordinary within the ordinary," making ao.ringo not just a dining destination, but an emotional bridge connecting the new and old layers of the city.
